Cranham is a rather scattered rural village of 450 inhabitants. It is situated a mile from the A46 between Painswick and Brockworth.
Despite its small size Cranham is a lively community. There is a village Church of England primary school with 60 children, a well-renowned Pub, the Black Horse, and it is known to many as the home of the County Scouting Centre. There are active cricket and tennis clubs, a choir, orchestra, a toddlers group, and activities for everyone most days of the week.
The Church plays a central role in the life of the village, with worship every Sunday and two midweek services. On the fourth Sunday of each month is a lively “Cranham Praise” service to which the young families and children come. The church and school work closely together with a team taking weekly “Open the Book” assemblies and the children often coming to the church for services and prayer.
There has been a church on the site since the 12th Century, and the present charming church was rebuilt in Victorian times.
The well established local ministry team have, over the years, empowered a strong sense of lay leadership in the church.
